Generally, we are unaware of our surrounding while sleeping. Sleep is defined as a state of unconsciousness from which a person can be aroused. There are two main types of sleep

·         Non-Rapid Eye Movement:- It is also known as quiet sleep or dreamless sleep. Basically people do not go through the sleeping they stuck in NREM. In this sleep, muscles are not paralyzed and a person is able to sleepwalk.

·         Rapid Eye Movement:- Dreaming occurs in this sleep. In this the brain becomes more active and voluntary muscles are essentially paralyzed.

Generally, we enter REM sleep about 90 minutes after falling asleep.

Proper medical tests to diagnose the type of sleep disorder should be done with the help of sleep specialists. Keeping a regular sleep schedule with optimum time for sleep is highly recommended to overcome such disorder. Watching T.V or working on computer just before going to bed may have a negative effect on the quality of sleep.
